IACP
Dartmouth College and the University of Alaska at Fairbanks have established the University of the Arctic Institute for Applied Circumpolar Policy (IACP), housed at the Dickey Center for International Understanding at Dartmouth in Hanover, New Hampshire. The mission of IACP is to promote discussion and analysis of critical issues facing the region and its people and to provide appropriate educational opportunities and policy-oriented advice as northern peoples face the challenges resulting from climate change.
Initially, IACP has two objectives:
- to raise public and private understanding of the policy implications resulting from circumpolar climate change and its human dimensions.
- to offer training and education to increase northern capacity to respond to the human dimensions of climate change
The next series of IACP meetings will be October 22-24, 2009, in Fairbanks, Alaska, to discuss the Arctic Marine Shipping Assessment (AMSA).
